This 962-page dictionary, based on the 4.5-billion-word Collins Corpus, is designed to help students prepare for the popular Ielts exam. It provides authentic examples, selected to illustrate the style of language used in the exam. The dictionary includes helpful writing and speaking guides, with descriptions of the exams and study tips. I like the boxes containing usage notes, word families and information on collocations, known here as ‘word connections’. Unfortunately, the headwords are not in colour. The three-diamond system showing word frequency is useful, although I would like to know the exact number of words in each frequency band. Recommended.
