ICEF and FELTOM launch new course for agents

ICEF has launched a new destination-focused certification programme, the Malta Agent Training Course (MATC), in partnership with the Federation of English Language Teaching Organisations Malta (FELTOM), via its professional training arm, ICEF Academy.

In 2023, Malta’s English Language Teaching (ELT) sector recorded a 21% year-on-year growth, reinforcing the country’s reputation as a top destination for ELT programmes. Now, its higher education sector is also expanding, with universities and vocational institutions providing pathways to international careers. The country’s high quality assurance standards, English-language instruction, relatively low cost of living, and low unemployment rates are a draw for international students.

“Malta is an increasingly attractive study destination, and education agents play a vital role in promoting its opportunities to students worldwide,” said Markus Badde, CEO of ICEF. “This course will help agents confidently guide students considering Malta for their English language, vocational, or tertiary education.”

ICEF and FELTOM: A shared mission

“This certification course reflects our shared mission with ICEF as we both place value and focus on delivering quality training to drive growth in the global education sector,” added Jessica Rees-Jones, CEO of FELTOM. “By ensuring education agents are well-informed about our education system, culture, and policies, we aim to enrich the overall experience for international students and support their success in Malta.”

The self-paced course is free to study and includes modules on Malta’s culture and history, study pathways, student support strategy, and marketing strategies to help promote the country’s unique value as a study destination. Education counsellors who want to set themselves apart as  Malta-certified study specialists can opt to invest in the associated course exam. Upon passing the exam, successful graduates will receive a certificate, and digital badge, and be listed on the ICEF Academy public MATC graduate directory.
